Staff
CCCC's staff are hired on the basis of education, experience, and their ability to relate to young children. We are proud that we have a higher staff retention rate than the industry average -- almost half of our current staff have been with CCCC for three years or more and some staff have been with the organization for more than two decades! Our low staff turnover results in a high degree of stability for our children and the chance for them to form strong relationships with their caregivers.
Education, Background Checks, and Training
Of approximately 30 staff members, a third have completed bachelor's degrees
or higher and another third are current students in early childhood education
or have completed associates' degrees. All employees have passed a criminal
history background check, as required by the State of Oregon Childcare
Division. We also check references for all employees. All classroom staff
maintain current first aide/CPR certification and must hold a current Oregon
Food handler's permit, and receive periodic child abuse recognition
training.
The Executive Director, Program Director, and Site Directors as well as
teaching staff are members of the Oregon Association for the Education of Young
Children. All staff members participate in at least 15 hours of continuing
education annually, through CCCC's in-service program as well as outside
classes and workshops. The staff is also encouraged to enroll in Pathways and
the Professional Development Registry, county and state systems implemented
to
recognize and reward the training and experience of childcare professionals.
